Liberation Museum Zeeland takes you into the stories of the province of Zeeland during World War II. The common thread in this story is the "Battle of the Scheldt." The fierce battle in the fall of 1944 between Allied and German troops for supremacy over the Western Scheldt, the important waterway to the then already liberated port of Antwerp. An often forgotten battle, but of decisive significance for the later liberation of Western Europe. A battle in which geology, soil composition and geomorphology were strategically used or opposed.
