The Markiezenhof is the North Brabant reception gate of Unesco Global Geopark Schelde Delta. The Markiezenhof used to be a city palace in which the lords and later the marquises of Bergen op Zoom resided. Here you can learn about the Marquises' way of life in the four different period rooms. These period rooms feature furniture and decorative and utensils from the 16th to 18th centuries. In the Blue Hall you will find a copy of the 1747 model of Bergen op Zoom.
For years they have been telling numerous storylines from the region here, in the coming years they will add several elements, including an interactive presentation with stories about (burden and lust of) water, geology and climate.
In addition, the city palace is developing (with the help of the awarded Interreg grant) part of the Markiezenhof into a visitor center of the Zuiderwaterlinie. Visitors are expected to be able to visit new stories and the visitor center starting in mid-2026.
