Drongengoed Farm

Admidst the forests and fields of the Meetjesland lies the Drongengoed Farm Visitor Gateway: a former reclamation farm of the Norbertines of Drongen, built in 1746 by Abbot De Stoop. Once an economic centre of monastic agriculture, it is now a visitor gateway where nature, heritage and experience come together.

Learn more about the history of the farm and the surrounding landscape, shaped by the Oedelem-Zomergem Cuesta, in the permanent exhibition The Secret of the Cuesta”.  Start your walk or bike ride from the site, enjoy a drink at the authentic inn with its charming terrace, or join one of the workshops.

Practical information

What this place tells us about the Geopark

The Drongengoed Farm is located on the Oedelem-Zomergem Cuesta, a geological slope formed by centuries of uplift and erosion. This elevated landscape was used by monastic orders to clear forests and create farmland. Here, you can see how soil, relief, and human activity shaped the landscape, and how it continues to evolve.
