The Moerspuische Watergang is a watercourse between Zuiddorpe and Koewacht and was constructed to transport peat. It is a remnant of the Moerspui that ran from Axel to Ghent. Along the water a number of forts were built by the Spaniards. Today, the Moerspuische Watergang, which remained after reclamation, connects to the Zoute Vaart and the Grote Kreek. Around the water there is a lot of grassland and forest which is maintained by the State Forestry Administration (Staatsbosbeheer).
