Fort Ellewoutsdijk

Fort Ellewoutsdijk is part of the 19th century defense line that was intended to prevent enemy ships from crossing the Western Scheldt to Antwerp. During World War II, the Germans expanded the fort with several bunkers also it was used as a prison. Later, the Defense Department used the fort as a warehouse. Now many birds breed there and there is a beautiful bird viewpoint.
