What this place tells about the Geopark

Fort Ellewoutsdijk tells a multifaceted story of landscape border control and geology. It marks the strategic military use of water and terrain in the 19th century. During WWII the fort was used by the German occupier as a prison, later as a detention site for NSB members and for storage. Today it serves as a breeding ground for birds as well as a stage for culture and nature experiences.
