The Rupel region

A very special area south of Antwerp, the Rupel region. Here a 30-million-year-old layer of very compact marine clay comes to the surface in the form of a so-called cuesta. Along the Rupel from Hemiksem to Rumst, an extensive brick industry has developed since the 18th century, which has now almost disappeared. Traces of geology and cultural history are visible everywhere. Join us on a discovery of traces of the past in this beautiful part of the Geopark Schelde Delta.
